Q: How is Jeromey Clary adjusting to right guard? – Rolando Ortega
A: Jeromey is adjusting quite well. Just the other day he said how he is enjoying the challenge and really picking up the nuances of the position. He’s made great strides since his first practice at guard up to now, and I expect the extra practices that training camp affords will have him completely up to snuff come opening night vs. the Houston Texans. Clary is a consummate pro, and I give him a ton of credit for making the switch.
Q: I’m kinda worried about Malcom (Floyd). He missed the last couple games last year I think bc of an ankle. Is he healthy? – Matthew Guidry
A: No need to worry about Malcom. I did a story on him a couple weeks back and asked him about that ankle injury, and he said he feels completely healthy. In fact, Floyd’s feeling better than ever. His exact quote was, “I feel awesome. I feel better than I ever have in my career. It’s the best I’ve ever felt. I’m just trying to take care of my body and everything will take off from there. I’m learning all these new details and getting better. I just want to win a Super Bowl, and I’m very excited about this upcoming year.”
A: Rivers is an exceptional leader for a multitude of reasons. What most impresses me about Philip is how hard he works on and off the field. He lives and breathes football and sets the bar high for his teammates, and he holds them accountable to demand the best from themselves and each other. He is very vocal and supportive, and as a result is an extremely popular figure inside the locker room.
Q: Now that OTAs and Mini Camp has ended, what’s the vibe like at Chargers Park? What’s everyone up to? Thanks for keeping us diehards up to date! – Hank Bones
A: Everyone is ready for the season to start! July 24 and the start of training camp can’t get here fast enough. There is a lot of energy and excitement about what General Manager Tom Telesco and Head Coach Mike McCoy are building. Everyone is encouraged by the offseason workouts and how the players have responded to the new regime. Regarding what we’re up to from now until training camp, many coaches and front office staffers are taking some time off to refresh the batteries because once July 24 comes, its full steam ahead!
