Chargers Nab Dynamic RB Danny Woodhead
Although he is small in stature, the San Diego Chargers have made a big addition to their running back corps by agreeing to terms with Danny Woodhead.
“We are really excited to add Danny to our football team,” said General Manager Tom Telesco. “Not only does he add a different dynamic to our offense, but he has all the intangible qualities that we are looking for in the players who we want to become San Diego Chargers. Danny is smart, he’s tough and he has a passion for the game. We feel his versatility and playmaking ability will be an upgrade for our offense.”
The 5-foot-8, 200-pound jack of all trades is one of the most versatile players in the NFL. He’s spent five seasons in the NFL, with his first two as a member of the New York Jets and the last three with the New England Patriots. He’s rushed the ball 265 times for 1,263 yards (an impressive 4.7 yards per carry) and 10 touchdowns. In 2012, he had 76 carries for 301 yards and four touchdowns
In addition to being a weapon on offense, Woodhead has also chipped in on special teams in the past. He’s returned 23 kicks for 496 yards.
Overall, Woodhead is a fan favorite around the NFL for his hard work, nonstop motor and ability to make a big impact on the game despite being one of the shortest players in the league.
