The whistle blew, but neither let up.
Chargers inside linebacker Takeo Spikes and Raiders running back Mike Goodson continued to pull on each other’s face masks after the ending of a play in the second quarter.
As a result, both were ejected.

“Two players had locked up with grabbing the face masks, kept pulling, continued to pull after we tried to break it up,” head referee John Parry said. “With the continuation of it and the amount of time that took place, that is why we disqualified them.”
Goodson was blocking Spikes when both engaged in a skirmish that stopped play for several minutes.
“Time,” Parry said of what warranted the ejection. “Lack of response from what I was trying to get done.”
The Raiders scored two plays later to make it 10-7, but the Chargers came out with the 24-21 win.
