Is there another good sign that Donald Butler will play on Sunday?
“He’s moving around and he had another good day yesterday. He didn’t have any setbacks, so I expect him to be okay.”
Has Eddie Royal been able to get a flow going?
“I think that he has. Things come up different and every week you see a different look and there are adjustments. So when you’re in that mode of practicing every week, it’s smoother. Eddie’s ready to play and hopefully he can make it through the entire game.”
Are there any players on your team that you would like see make the Pro Bowl this year?
“I think that Mike Scifres has had an unbelievable year and I find it hard to believe that anyone has had a better year punting than him. And I think that Eric Weddle on the defense has continued to get better and play at a high level.”
Is it strange to not have Philip Rivers and other guys not in the mix when it comes to names for the Pro Bowl?
“I’ve never taken it lightly when a guy has made the Pro Bowl in any form because it’s hard to get there and it’s really an honor to be voted by your teammates. With the struggles that we’ve had, it won’t be his (Rivers) year, but I think that he can get back there.”
Where do you think that Eric Weddle has improved?
“I think that he’s not only doing his job at a high level, but he’s helping other guys get lined up and other guys throughout the game play at a higher level. I think that’s what your best players do for you.”
Do you think that Weddle’s drop in interceptions is caused by quarterbacks being more aware of him?
“Some of it is just being in the right place at the right time. It’s good fortune and some of it is plays. He had big interceptions early in the year and you’re probably right, it think that people see it and decide to throw it somewhere else and be a little safer. When you’re playing at a high level as a team, I think that you can force teams into more errors and more mistakes.”
How has Ladarius Green improved behind the scenes?
“I think that he’s getting stronger. He hasn’t added a lot of bulk, but he is getting stronger. He’s gotten very good at running the routes and I think that he’s a guy with a bright future.”
How do you prepare for a quarterback like Ed McElroy when there’s not a lot of film on him?
“They can’t change a lot of what they’re doing offensively. You look at what you have when he played, then you try and project the kinds of things that he’s going to be comfortable doing. Then the players around him are guys who you have to study and what they do.”
Even though Greg McElroy is expected to start, do you see this week as one where you could see all three Jets quarterbacks?
“I think that you have to prepare for the Wildcat, for their offense. McElroy is expected to start and I expect him to play the game then see a mixture of the Wildcat stuff.”
Is Mike Harris going to start at left tackle against the Jets?
“Yeah, I would think that he would, but he’s getting back. I wouldn’t say that he’s completely back with his ankle, but he’s making progress every day.” Read
