Q: Ricky, what's the attitude like in the locker room? From the fan's perspective there isn't a lot of positive energy around when the Chargers come up. – Briana Jaime
A: The players are certainly disappointed, and after the game last Sunday it was somber. However, this team still believes in one another and is putting all their focus on Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. They aren’t looking ahead at the next five weeks, but instead are focusing solely on getting the win on Sunday
Q: Corey Liuget is ballin! Will he make the Pro Bowl? - Paulie Giancolla
A: Liuget has been outstanding the past month and is making a name for himself across the league. For the season, he has 31 tackles, three sacks and seven passes knocked down at the line of scrimmage. He’s come up with timely tackles in key situations and has brought down the running back in the backfield numerous times per game. That being said, I’m not sure that’s quite good enough to make the Pro Bowl this season. Its close, but I see him being one of the last guys left out. But if he continues on this trajectory, I’d expect him to make many in the future.
Q: Is there an update on Vincent Brown? Will we see him this year? – Tarek Hammad
A: Everyone’s been asking about Vincent, so I caught up with him yesterday to get an update straight from the source. Here’s what he had to say.
Q: What’s wrong with Gates? He isn’t producing at all what I expected. I thought he was healthy finally. – Tom Shannon
A: I agree that Gates hasn’t had quite the production we all anticipated heading into the season. He is healthy, but there are a number of reasons why his numbers are not where we expected them to be. The biggest reason is that teams are zeroing in on him, often doubling the talented tight end. They are forcing Philip Rivers to look outside to his other receivers or dump it off to the running back rather than let Gates beat them. With the emergence of Danario Alexander and the consistent strong play of Malcom Floyd, hopefully defenses start paying more attention to the wide receivers which would open things up for Gates.
Q: Who do you think makes more of an impact this week, Jonas Mouton, Brandon Taylor, Bront Bird or Micheal Spurlock? – Danny Davis
A: Interesting question. I’m not sure Spurlock will dress this week, but if he is active, I’m going to say him. I’d like to see what he does in the return game and on special teams, and think that would be the way one of those four players has the biggest impact. If he isn’t active, I’m going to go with Brandon Taylor. Cincinnati has a dangerous passing game so I think that will give Taylor an opportunity to make his presence felt.
Q: My bold prediction this week is that Ronnie Brown throws for a touchdown. Yea I said it! What's yours this time? – Brandon Whip
A: I have to say that’s the boldest prediction we’ve gotten into the mailbag all season. Good job thinking outside the box! My bold prediction this week is that Rivers ends up running into the end zone for a rushing touchdown against the Bengals.
