Fourth Quarter: Chargers 24 – Chiefs 31
8:50 – Drew Brees hits Marques Colston across the middle for a 5-yard touchdown.
2:56 – Greg Hartley boots a chip shot from 26 yards out to take the Saints lead to 7.
9:45 – Drew Brees hits Henderson on a deep post for a 41-yard gain.
5:43 – Saints safety Roman Harper intercepts a deflected pass intended for Malcom Floyd and returns it to the Chargers’ 21-yard line.
3:00 – Chargers hold the Saints from inside their own 10-yard line to force a field goal.
2:24 - Rivers connects with Floyd across the middle for a big gain of 32 yards.
:28 – Ronnie Brown gets a big first down to the Saints 33-yard line.
:08 – Rivers is sacked and fumbles, recovered by the Saints.
Third Quarter: San Diego 24– New Orleans 21
12:34 – Ryan Mathews bounced a 13-yard run to the outside and turned the corner, recording his first TD of the season as he soared over the defender at the goal-line.
0:16 – Marques Colston jumped up to grab a 16-yard touchdown pass from Drew Brees over the middle at the goal-line. It was his second touchdown of the game.
13:53 – Under pressure on third down, Drew Brees threw behind Devery Henderson and Quentin Jammer picked the ball off at the Saints 25-yard line.
12:19 – Brees zipped a ball into a tight space to Colston for an 11-yard gain and a first down.
10:27 – After a pair of false starts penalties, the Saints faced a 3rd-and-20. Brees lined up under shotgun and rolled out to his left, looking for Colston who couldn’t cradle in the pass.
6:47 – Ronnie Brown had another clutch catch as a check down option, running for 10 yards and a first down into Saints territory.
5:56 - Rivers was crushed by an onslaught of defenders for a 12-yard loss.
3:59 – On 3rd-and-1 at the 22, Mark Ingram managed to get just enough for the first down.
3:35 – Shaun Philips had a timely six-yard sack of Brees on first down.
3:00 – Demorrio Williams intercepted the ball for a pick-six, but Melvin Ingram was called for roughing the passer, giving the Saints 15-yards and a first down.
1:07 – New Orleans called a well-timed screen pass to Pierre Thomas, and the running back took it 36-yards to the San Diego 16.
Second Quarter: San Diego 17– New Orleans 14
10:01 – Nick Novak gave the Bolts a 10-7 lead with a 20-yard chip shot.
7:25 - On 3rd-and-5 from the 19 yard line, Drew Brees hit Marques Colston in the end zone to give the Saints their first lead of the night.
0:44 – Robert Meachem notched his second touchdown of the game this one a 44-yard strike in the waning seconds of the first half.
14:20 – On 3rd-and-4 at their own 15, Drew Brees was harassed and threw a ball harmlessly to the ground.
13:34 – An 11-yard pass to Eddie Royal put the Chargers into Saints territory.
10:06 –On 3rd-and-goal at the two-yard line, Rivers looked for Antonio Gates in the back corner of the end zone but Roman Harper knocked it away.
8:53 – Devery Henderson made a catch on 3rd-and-four for a first down.
8:38 –One play later, Brees connected with Marques Colston for a 40-yard gain.
4:54 – On 3rd-and-10, Eddie Royal came up with a huge 20-yard catch. In addition, the Saints were called for a roughing the passer call to tack on an additional 15-yards up to the New Orleans 35-yard line.
4:13 –On 3rd-and-3, Rivers was sacked for an eight yard loss.
2:58 – Novak attempted a 55-yard field goal attempt, but missed wide left.
2:09 – Facing a 3rd-and-6, Corey Liuget dropped Brees for a 13-yard loss on a huge sack.
1:48 – Ronnie Brown took an inside handoff for 21-yards to jump start the no-huddle offense.
First Quarter: San Diego 7– New Orleans 7
7:02 – Staring down a 3rd-and-6 at the 15-yard line, Philip Rivers threaded the needle over the middle between two defenders to Robert Meachem for a touchdown.
3:05- Devery Henderson was able to get behind the defense on 3rd-and-6 for a 40-yard touchdown strike. Drew Brees set the NFL record for consecutive games with a touchdown pass (48) on the play.
13:35 – On 3rd-and-6, Rivers threw behind Eddie Royal and the Chargers were forced to punt the ball after a three and out.
12:20 – Faced with a short 3rd-and-2, Brees completed a seven-yard quick out to Greg Camarillo for a first down.
11:03 – On a long 3rd-and-14, Corey Lynch snuffed out a screen pass to Darren Sproles and stopped him for a five yard loss.
10:22 – Backed up on their own nine yard line, Rivers hit Malcom Floyd in stride for a gain of 39 yards on first down.
5:39 – Brees stepped up in the pocket and converted a 3rd-and-5 with a 12-yard strike to Marques Colston.
4:24 –The Saints were successful on their second consecutive third down as Brees hit Camarillo for 14 yards over the middle.
2:53 – Ryan Mathews had a strong 18-yard run to breathe life into the Chargers after giving up a touchdown.
0:43 – On 3rd-and-3 at the San Diego 41, Rivers rolled out to his right and tried to hit Eddie Royal but the ball fell incomplete.
