The Chargers made it official Saturday afternoon, signing Nick Novak to be their kicker for Sunday’s game at the Kansas City Chiefs. The need for Novak arose after Nate Kaeding injured his groin during Friday’s practice. To make room on the roster, the team released guard/tackle Reggie Wells.
A San Diego native, Novak spent the majority of the 2011 season with the Chargers, making 27 of 34 attempts for a 79.4-percent conversion rate. Novak has made 46 of 64 field goals over a five year career with the Chargers, Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. Read
