The Chargers Coach of the Week (COW) program recognizes high school coaches who, through their hard work and dedication to young people, have made a difference in the lives of their players, community and schools. The program also provides high schools with financial assistance to help fund their athletic programs.  Each week during the high school football season, the Chargers proudly announce their selection for San Diego County High School Coach of the Week as part of KUSI’s Prep Pigskin Report. The winner receives a $1,500 donation from the Chargers Community Foundation to the school's athletic department.

At the end of each season, one outstanding coach is selected as the Chargers “Coach of the Year” and is announced live during the Prep Pigskin Report’s annual Silver Pigskin Gala show.  In recognition of his selection, the Coach of the Year receives a $2,500 donation for his school’s athletic department.
