Students Section - Once applications are received, they are reviewed by instructors and administrators from the San Diego County Office of Education.

For the Chargers Champions Scholarship program, County Education faculty members are selected to help perform the initial selection process because of their special training and work in college preparatory curriculum. Each year, a group of readers for this program are selected with the help of the County Office of Education to ensure a good cross background of former classroom teachers and school administrators.

Once the readers have read and graded all applications the "finalists" are then forwarded on to the Chargers Champions Leadership Team for final review. The Chargers Champions Leadership Team holds student interviews, where they make a final selection of 10 students.

Schools Section - For the Schools Grant program, we worked with the San Diego County Office of Education to identify the important backgrounds necessary to fairly evaluate all nominations received and to ensure a good cross background of business, community, former physical education teachers, grounds and maintenance personnel as well as school administrators. From their recommendations and in partnership with the Chargers Champions Leadership Team, the School Selection Committee was formed.

The Selection Committee meets and reviews as a group all grant submissions utilizing a grading sheet with a Scoring Guide. After the finalists have been selected, site visits may be scheduled to ensure accuracy of grant applications before grant awards are announced.
