DONATION REQUESTS
The Chargers Community Foundation is delighted to provide support to a wide range of charities and community organizations each year in an effort to help raise funds for worthwhile causes through Chargers donations. The San Diego Chargers are happy to assist the San Diego community with donations of memorabilia and other items for auctions, raffles and events as one way of supporting the thousands of great organizations in San Diego County.
Depending on the nature and reach of the event, in-kind donations of team memorabilia may include photos, team apparel, footballs and other merchandise. The Chargers assist more than 2,000 organizations annually in this manner. The following procedures and guidelines are designed to assist you with your donation request (NOTE: Chargers game tickets are not available for donation due to limited availability and other restrictions):
We will notify organizations if their donation request is granted. It is highly recommended that your event not be centered on the anticipation of a donation from the San Diego Chargers, but a donation should be considered as a complimentary element to your event.
Many requests may not be fulfilled due to the overwhelming volume of requests we receive weekly.
Donation Guidelines:
- All donation requests must be submitted in writing. Phone, fax, email requests are not accepted.
- All requests must be submitted in writing on official charity letterhead. Letters must contain the date of the event, the contact person’s name, phone number, address, the type of fundraiser and who it will benefit.
- All requests must be submitted six (6) weeks prior to your event.
- Charitable contributions will only be granted to organizations with 501(c) (3) status. No third party requests. The tax exempt ID number must be included on the donation request letter.
- Organizations will receive only one donation per year.
- Due to the large volume of requests we receive, the San Diego Chargers have established a statewide-only policy for donations of Chargers memorabilia with priority first to San Diego County.
- Requests must include a return shipping label for FedEx or UPS Ground in order to have the donation mailed out. Otherwise donations must be picked- up at Chargers Park between the hours 10:00am-5:00PM, Monday - Thursday.
- Due to strict NFL guidelines prohibiting any association with gambling, even for charity, we are unable to donate to gambling themed events.
- As part of our donation process, we ask you to help us measure our impact in the community. After your event, please fill out and send in the San Diego Chargers Donation Fundraising Card. All completed post cards will be entered into a quarterly drawing for limited edition autograph memorabilia.
- Use of the San Diego Chargers name, logos and trademark and/or any advertising that implies the support or sponsorship of an event by the San Diego Chargers, San Diego Chargers Community Foundation or the NFL must be approved in writing by the San Diego Chargers Marketing Department.
- Again, due to the large volume of requests we receive, our response to any particular donation request is at our sole discretion, there are NO exceptions to the above guidelines. Our policies allow us to be very generous with our donations; however, submitting a request does not guarantee your organization will receive a donation.
