Programs

The San Diego Chargers and Police Officer's Associations from around San Diego County brighten the holiday season each year for children at Children's Hospital, many of whom may not get to go home for the holidays, through the Annual Teddy Bear Drive to Children's Hospital. Chargers long snapper David Binn along side several of his Chargers teammates will ride alongside San Diego County law enforcement to Children's Hospital with over 6,000 teddy bears this December. A large caravan of police vehicles will leave the San Diego Sheriffs Department rolling Code 3 sirens and lights wailing before arriving at Children's Hospital.

Bear Drive

Team president Dean Spanos and long snapper David Binn, together have donated more than $20,000 for teddy bears for this event. Over 75 law enforcement vehicles from across the Southern California area, lead by the Chargers "Bolt Patrol" van, filled with teddy bears will arrive at Children's to the cheers of children, staff, and families. The players and officers will then personally deliver these magical gifts to the young patients, during the Annual Teddy Bear Drive.

The Teddy Bear Drive began twelve years ago when Coronado Officer Brian Hardy delivered a single carload of teddy bears to the hospital. Since then, the event has grown to more than 6,000 teddy bears and toys annually.
